Rectal ulcer - terrified

Hello,

After having suspected hemorrhoids for 9 months, today I went for treatment privately and was told I have an ulcer that needs to be biopsied. I am terrified. I'm 37 and have a young daughter. Has anyone been through this? I have a colonoscopy scheduled for 3 weeks time - which makes me think it can't be that serious or I'd be in the next day? But then Covid has caused delays.

Any and all support is much appreciated as I've never felt so lonely or scared in my entire life.

thank you xx

  • Hello Stephanie_bythesea,

Try not to worry, as this only has a negative impact on your mental health and at this point we don't know if the ulcer is serious or not. You might want to look at this information here, which I hope will help you feel more prepared. Waiting times due vary and they can be affected by the pandemic, as you say.

I hope the test goes ok and don't be afraid to ask the doctor any questions you might have.

    Best wishes,
