Ovarian Mass

Hi All,

3 weeks ago I went to A&E where I was diagnosed as having an ovarian cyst (approx 8cm)/torsion. Ended up having ovary removal and I'm still waiting for pathology results.

Fast forward to now and I've just been reading my notes on Patient Access a few things that have me worried and I was wondering if anyone could put my mind to rest?

1. Free fluid in pelvis

2. Underlying pathology cannot be excluded

3.It wasn't classed as a cyst on notes but a 'Grossly enlarged oedematous mass'

4. Suggest urgent gynaecology review.

I did speak with the consultants secretary yesterday as also at the bottom of the discharge letter it says 'Follow up - Nil' and she explained that this was what they went by so was confused about the reference about an urgent review and said she'd speak with the consultant and get back to me.

I know that I'm probably over thinking but I am currently suffering with anxiety.

Thanks.

  • Hi Shall and welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately no-one here can interpret medical notes but if you'd like to talk this through with one of our cancer nurses they're available on 0808 800 4040 between 9a.m - 5p.m.

If you can, do try and speak to your consultant directly about this as they're in the best position to explain what this all means and put your mind at ease.

I hope you're able to get some answers soon and that the pathology results bring good news when they come through.

    All the best,
