Ovarian Cancer?? - Petrified

Hi All,

First let me introduce myself, my name is Alex and I suffer from health anxiety and I am worried sick about my Wife.

First of all, she had some light spotting a few weeks back - thought she had started her period but then it just stopped - put it down to once of those things. Then a few days later she was pulling herself in on the breakfast bar stool and experienced a horrific pain that, in her words, floored her. The pain was in her left pelvic region, but weirdly the pain comes when she moves a certain way, leans back etc, basically when it is stretched I guess. Then a few days later came the bloating. Although 4/5 days later her period arrived and the bloating subsided (basically I put the bloating down to the period). The pain continued for a day or so and then went totally for around a week. Fast forward to two days ago, the pain just suddenly came back again, exactly the same as before, stabbing/splitting pain with movement - no bloating this time. Anyway she is at a Gynecologist appointment tomorrow, she went to the GP as soon as she first had the pain, we was concerned due to the light spotting that she had a few days prior. other than that I would have put it down to a muscle! anyway, due to my health anxiety I have probably spent the last two days going over google (sorry, I know I shouldn't) and I am petrified she may have Ovarian Cancer. I should also mention that she has had bleeding after sex for the last 18 months, but this was addressed by GP and had swabs and smear done - all came back clear, thankfully. She has had two kids, and is 26 years old.

Thanks for taking the time to read.

  • Hi Alex,

It's good to talk so thanks for sharing! Sorry to hear your partner has been having some challenges and that the GP has managed to rule out some things so far, the symptoms could mean any possible number of non-cancerous conditions (Dr Google can be a help and a hindrance ) but its good to get specialist advice to tackle whatever the issue is and for your peace of mind. Hope all goes well at the gynaecology appointment tomorrow.

  • Hi Debbee, thanks for the reply. You're right, it is good to talk.

I just can't seem to shake the 'thinking the worse'. I really hope she gets the good news tomorrow. Im so scared.
