Duodenal Polyp

So I had an endoscopy 10 days ago.  I expected there to be signs of inflammation and to have gastritis confirmed tbh.  I have mental health issues and experience a lot of anxiety which I thought affected my stomach.  The Consultant stated she had not seen a polyp of this type, which was not very reassuring.  I have been told it is large and I think there are 3 heads/points on it from what she said.  So now I am waiting to see what is what.  Incredibly anxious but getting through each day.  She said she would put the biopsy through marked urgent and phone me when results are to hand.  That in itself raised the worry level.  I am almost 64 years old.  So I wonder if anyone out there has any experience of this?

  • Welcome to Cancer Chat, Celticlass.

I'm sorry to hear that a polyp was found during your endoscopy and that is causing you to be, understandably, worried.

We do have other members here who have been through a similar experience and I hope that some of them will be here shortly to chat with you and offer reassurance. Until they do feel free to join other threads already in place on the forum, our members are very friendly and I'm sure they'll be happy to chat with you.

Also, our nurses are available on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. if you feel that chatting with someone with a medical background might help until you have your biopsy.

Once you know more, please come back and give us an update.

    Best wishes,
