Hi All,
In February I experienced very severe menstrual bleeding and was hospitalised overnight to stabilise me. I was then referred to the gynaecology clinic under a consultant to carry out further tests and examinations etc to try to get to a diagnosis. I am 23 years old and have had gynaecological issues since I was 16 (PCOS) and also have a family history of ovarian cancer.
Upon examination by a consultant, they discovered I had a cervical ectropion (cervical erosion) and had this cauterised, they also requested for me to have both a pelvic and internal ultrasound. A few weeks later my results letter arrived from my consultant, noting that my ovaries were slightly enlarged, suggesting PCOS to be the cause and also noted that my Endometrial Lining was thicker than it should normally be, suggesting polyps. The treatment they referred me for was a Hysteroscopy and Polypectomy and this is to be done under GA.
I feel nervous and scared beyond belief that they will find something untoward and I am also worried about whether I may be infertile. I am wondering if anyone has had previous experience with this and how they found it? Any tips on recovery etc as I have never had an operation before nor been under GA.
Thanks!
