Referred to breast clinic

I found a lump in my breast on Thursday last week, went to gp today who said they felt the lump and saw some discoloration too. I was referred to the breast clinic for further tests.

She said because I am under 30 that it's not urgent and should have an appointment in about 4 weeks, which is terrifying, feels like forever at the moment

I'm just curious what happens at the breast clinic? Dr didn't say much.

What procedures do they do?

How long will I be there?

Will I be able to take someone? (Not sure with covid)

Will I find out results immediately?

Will they do all the tests they would of done if I was 30 or above? (I'm 25 and feeling like they might just write it off since I'm young)

  • Hi

Its scarey but that is natural, why not phone them and tell them you can make any cancellation appointments, I did and I got in after a few days.

It is likely they will do a mammogram, ultrasound and maybe a biopsy, all are routine, I was there for 4 hours so be prepared for this. Unlikely you will get 100% results that day although they may and hopefully do say it's nothing to worry about.

    Keep smiling xxxx
