Lumps on cervix

Not sure what gave me the urge but last year I checked my cervix and found a lump.  I went to gp who arranged for bloods and did an internal and could see anything. Bloods came back ok.

Roll on a year and again randomly popped into my head to check my cervix. This time the original lump I felt was larger and now a cluster and there are more lumps all around it.  Went back to my gp and saw a different doctor. She did an internal with the speculum but couldn't see anything but when she did an internal with her fingers she was able to feel the large hard lumps.

She has put an urgent referal to colposcopy so now it's a waiting game and I have no idea what to think.

She did say that it didn't seem like Nabothian cysts hence the referral.

Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

  • Hi PennyBlossom and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about the lumps you've found but fingers crossed they won't turn out to be anything sinister.

Hopefully sure some of our members who have been in a similar situation will get back to you soon but whilst you wait, I wanted to let you know that 9 out of 10 people urgently referred are not diagnosed with cancer. You can find out more just here.

I'm not sure if you've had a colposcopy before but if not, you can find out more about the procedure just here.

I hope this information will help ease your mind and that your appointment goes well when the time comes.

    All the best,

  • Thank you so much for your reply and the links.

I've tried to avoid googling and researching what it all means but I will have a look at the links.

Those are some really good statistics so fingers crossed I'm one of the 9.

  • Hello, did you get any answers. I have checked my cervix a few times in the past few years (trying to conceive and now have a child). Was starting to try for a second and felt my cervix again, which had always just felt smooth. Now it feels lumpy. Like there's tons of little lumps / bumps covering about 2/3s of it. I'm worried and will ask to see a doctor, but just wondered if you'd had results yet as it sounds similar.

hope you're well and all was okay for you.

  • Hi Alijg,

    Did you get any answers?

I've just checked mine for the first time in a couple years since childbirth and exactly the same as you , it was smooth and now all bumpy, is it a post birth thing?

I will be booking in for a check but wandered if you'd had any outcome in the meantime?

    thanks
