calcifications in breast

Hi,

my mum has recently had a routine mammogram, they then ask her back for another one where they also took a sample and found calcifications, but they said what they found was benign but still want to test further so she has a vacuum biopsy booked in for next week, has anyone had a similar experience?

we are besides ourselves with worry as this time last year my grandma was diagnosed with cancer and we unfortunately lost her within four weeks of her diagnosis, from what I have read if this is something serious it sounds positive and treatable but I'm just really looking for some advice and help as all we can think right now is worst case scenario, I want to be strong for my mum and put her at ease but I don't know how because I'm so worried.

really hope someone can help and she's some light for us.

many thanks in advance

  • Hi Penny25,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of your worries - I can understand this uncertainty must be unsettling and difficult. It's good that the tests so far have been fine and it sounds as if they are being thorough by getting further tests, which is also good to hear.

The not knowing and waiting for further information is always tough - often the only thing to do is to sit tight and wait for the appointment and results to follow. Try to keep yourselves busy and distracted where possible.

There will be others here who have been through something similar I'm sure, so hopefully you'll also receive further replies.

I hope you're able to find out more soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
