Blood Tests

okay so I know you should never google your symptoms but unfortunately I can't help it lol

I can never just leave things alone

so basically i have a good few symptoms of leukaemia and it's pretty worrying (tiredness, bone pain/joint pain, nosebleeds and gum bleeding, breathlessness, swollen glands, itchy skin) , i've been to the doctors for my symptoms and they ran blood tests and they came back and i have low vitamin b12, low iron and low folic acid levels

i was just wondering if leukaemia can present like that or if i'm just worrying too much and it really is just a couple of vitamin deficiencies

any information would help

thanks x

  • Hi Chronicgoogler and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry about the symptoms you've been contending with but it's good to see the results that have come back haven't shown up anything sinister.

Your doctor is in the best position to answer any questions you have about Leukaemia so if you're worried about this do be sure to follow up with them to discuss your results and hopefully put your mind at ease.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi. I have similar symptoms like yours apart from the gum bleeds but I don't get proper nosebleeds, I just get blood in my nose. My doctor is running tests and he ran a few tests like yours. I started googling too. While I'm waiting for my results my doc prescribed me with a compact drink since I'm not eating and iron tablets. I've heard a lot of stories of doctors misdiagnosing leukaemia as a flu or infections or inflammations. I myself was diagnosed with an inflammation a couple of months ago but I got a new doc and he's running over 10 tests. Google isn't the best doctor but sometimes it could be right. If you feel something is terribly wrong or if new symptoms come, ask for a new doctor. That's what I did.

  • yeah, my doctor prescribed me b12 tablets, folic acid tablets and iron tablets but i've been on them for about a month now and nothing seems to be easing up. i've to go for more bloods next week though to see how my vitamin levels are looking.

similar to you i was diagnosed with a mouth infection a couple of months ago as i had an infected lump on my lower lip and my lymph nodes were swollen in my jaw but the swelling went down a lot except for one lump i have in my right jaw, it's hard but movable and painless so i'm taking that as a good thing.

i suppose i'll just have to wait for my new blood tests and i definitely think i have to ask for a new doctor but i hope that your tests come back good for you and it's nothing more than an infection or inflammation. :)
