19, I think I have bowel cancer

3 weeks ago I was in the emergency department with suspected appendicitis once I was seen it went from appendicitis to twisted ovary then I was sent home in agony without a diagnosis was just told it was either bowel or bladder problems, since I've had bloods taken which are normal and show no sign of infection same with urine samples, I've since had pain in my lower right abdomen and a lump there I've had blood in my poo that looks like streaky blood in the poo no blood in the toilet water or on toilet paper just in the stool, I'm really concerned no one is taking me seriously and I'm very anxious about this and would really like some advice as a lot of my symptoms are pointed to bowel cancer

  • It could be so many things.  Colitis.  Chrohns.  Ibs.  But I would still keep pushing them and get a diagnosis don't automatically think the worse though .  At your age it is extremely unlikely.  I have had blood in my poo for over 25 years which are due to piles.  But you still need to be diagnosed don't take no for an answer.

  • Thankyou, I know it could be so many things this lump in my tummy has me really concerned and the blood in my stool has no other symptoms other than it's there so I know it's not piles I'm just stressing as so many of my symptoms are pointing towards it, I will keep pushing calling my gp tomorrow I just really hope it isn't cancer

  • Diverticulitis . Can cause lumps and bleeding in your stool.  They form pouches of inflammation in your tummy and cause bleeding in your stools.  Call your dr tomorrow tel him how worried you are. The lump and the bleeding. And make sure he listens to you.  Purely for your peace of mind.  But if it's diverticulitis or chrons then it needs treating anyway.

  • Yeah that's a really good point Thankyou for your help I will do that, I know the chances of it being cancer are low but never impossible, hopefully I get an answer soon

  • Hi lovely
I saw this and wanted to reply as we've had a similar experience. I Ended up in hospital with suspected appendicitis after a trip to the GP with what I thought was a UTI, then sent home again. All my bloods, urine tests and ultrasound were clear.

I've got pain in my right side, blood and pain when I poo so I went back to the GP - please chat to them and they can do some more tests. My GP was good and ordered a few more blood tests the hospital didn't cover (vitamin D and coeliac) but said it's likely inflammation or even a fissure. Im just waiting on results of a stool test and then will go from there.

There's lot of things it could be so please speak to your GP about your worries. Hope you managed to speak to them as I realised it's been a few weeks!

  • Hello! yeah it's definitely scary I've had bloods done and a stool sample all came back clear I'm awaiting a ultra sound scan, when I posted this I was terrified emotional and completely stressed out by the situation, I pulled myself together and have chilled out I've been constantly nagging the doctors and I've finally gotten somewhere I definitely won't stop until I get a diagnosis, when I was in A&E I was just completely neglected and pushed aside because of my age and they just thought I was being dramatic or pregnant which neither were the case the whole situation stressed me out and I got really emotional about it where I should've stayed in over night I refused to as I just wanted to go home after having such a bad experience, but fingers crossed we will get somewhere ! Your right it could be many things right now there looking for bowel cancer or IBD obviously neither are pleasant and I was stressing myself and thinking the worse ! Thankyou for your reply I wish you all the best !
