Breast Pain and lump

I've had breast pain for months. I can manage during the day if I put anti inflammatory gel on the whole left side of my breast. It's even better on days off when I don't have to wear a bra. I had a mammogram 4 years ago for a lump which was just fatty tissue. Now however, I've found a hard lump in painful area. I don't want to be over dramatic or waste peoples time. Most info sites say breast cancer is not painful. Is that right? Should I just keep taking the analgesia? I've been post menopausal for a few years (early onset at 37)

    Hi NoahsGranny,

I am so glad to hear that you have managed to see your GP so quickly and that she has referred you to the breast clinic. Not all lumps turn out to be cancer. Many turn out to be due to fibrous changes or cysts and, some people just have naturally lumpy breasts, Out of every 8 people referred to the clinic, only 1 will get a cancer diagnosis, so try not to panic. The odds are still on your side.

I know that you will be worried while waiting for your appointment - try to keep yourself busy to help make the time pass a little quicker. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
