Cervical ectropion after pregnancy

I gave birth to my daughter 8 days ago, on Monday I was rushed to the hospital due to having an infection from retained placenta in my uterus. The doctor gave me an pelvic examination and took away some of the retained placenta stuck in the opening of my cervix, but said my cervix looked bulky, oozing and bled on contact and asked if Id ever had ectropion to which I said no. However now I'm worried that it's cervical cancer

I had multiple speculums and pelvic examinations during the pregnancy and not once did anyone mention anything about how my cervix was looking. Im hoping it was just an infection and not cervical cancer, could cervical cancer show up this quickly like within two weeks?

  • Welcome to the forum C.martin and a big congratulations on the arrival of your daughter although I'm very sorry you had to be rushed back in to hospital. It must have been very scary.

Unfortunately the online community can't really answer medical questions but if you'd like to talk things through with one of our cancer nurses they'll be available from Tuesday onwards on 0808 800 4040 between 9a.m - 5p.m. You can also find out a bit more about cervical ectropion just here.

I hope this helps and you receive some support from our members soon.

    Kind regards,
