So so scared and worried

Hi,

I can't eat or sleep and have just been pacing up and down in my room for days now.

Up until about 3 weeks ago I was feeling fine, my period on the 4th March was very light (I'm in menopause) so didn't think too much of it but then 15 days after that had a heavy bleed which the doctor told me was late stage menopause heavy bleeding.

Something isn't right though, I have a burning, stinging pain at the bottom of my vagina and I look and feel awful. I've completely lost my appetite and my bladder and bowel habits seem all over the place.I've never had any bleeding between periods or after sex prior to this one incident though.

I went for a smear test today and it really hurt, the nurse didn't say anything looked weird or anything.

Any advice or a friendly ear would be really appreciated.

Thank you.

  • I thought periods became erratic during menopause. Some heavy some light. I'm not a doctor but im Sure this is normal.
i think there are 34 symptoms of menopause vaginal dryness and stinging is definitely mentioned so try Not to

worry too much. If you worry then this affects

    your digestive track.
I see you've mentioned this to your doctor and had a

smear so you've done all you can. If you're on fb there's a

menopause UK group which might help you. Take care

  • Hi Nic,

Thanks so much for taking the time to respond, I really appreciate it.

I really hope you are right and it is just menopause issues, I have a feeling something is really wrong but as you say I have had the smear so now just need to wait.

    Have a lovely weekend,

    Sam

  • Menopause is wierd!

I had heavy periods with clots before mine finished. Went 18 months and had an odd one out of the blue. Had biopsies and camera which were all fine. Dr said this happens alot, like the ovaries kick up for one last time.

As for the burning/stinging down below... I believe this is also a symptom of menopause. I've had this for over 3 years too. Mentioned it to my Gp a few times but nothing found during swabs, smear etc. Stinging with every wee.

Worrying can affect you not wanting to eat and make your bowels worse.

I'm going through a scare myself at the moment and I'm the same, thinking alsorts, expecting the worst, going to the loo more. I've had cancer in the past so now every little thing is a massive worry as that is the first thing I think.

I hope you get good results soon, once you know there's nothing bad I'm sure your symptoms will ease.

Please don't google stuff, we all do and regret it.  xx
