Painless lump on my back

I was just laying in my stomach and i arched my back , kind of like a yoga pose i lifted my head up and i ran my hands down either side of my spine. I felt a medium sized firm/not soft but it wasn't rock hard, lump on my left side. I did have some rib pain directly above the lump back in december 2019 that lasted a few months but eventually it stopped. I suffer from extreme anxiety, so going to the doctors (especially during covid) is a very hard task for me. I need some advice.

Some background on my lifestyle, i lay down a lot, i barely work out, i am mainly sedantry for the last year 2020 due to covid. I did some light workouts for a few weeks this year but i've stopped since the middle of march. Not too sure what it is, i can see the lump if i arch my back but if i stand up i can't see it. It's also not painful if i press on it.

Thanks

  • Hello Aimee and welcome to our forum!

Unfortunately, no one on this forum will be able to tell you what it might be so do make an appointment to see your doctor. I know you mentioned this is very hard for you as you suffer from anxiety and that the covid situation has been exacerbating it but the only way to get reassurance and to find out what this lump might be is to get in touch with your GP.

There is information on this page on how to make the most of your GP appointment during these coronavirus times.

So do pick up the phone and make that call. You will feel a lot better I am sure after you have spoken to the doctor.

Best of luck with your appointment and best wishes,
