New lump

Hi I had a mammogram exactly a year ago I've got a new lump what's the chances that a mammogram missed something ‍♀️

  • Hello Emma3000

I'm sorry tohear that you've recently found a new lump. It's important to get any new lump checked out so do get in touch with your GP next week if you've not already done so.

As you may already know, the majority of women who attend breast clinic are not diagnosed with cancer so try to stay positive about things.

Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi thanks for replying I went to the GP and I'm at the hospital on Wednesday fingers crossed

  • Hi Emma,

I am sorry to hear this. Have you thought that this could also be something that has developed in the past year? I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years. The second was exactly a year after my first surgery.

I sincerely hope that this won't be the case with you, as there are many other causes of breast lumps, which don't lead to cancer. I would endorse Jenn's advice to phone your GP on Tuesday and ask to be examined. It is worth doing this if only for your own peace of mind.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi jolamine my 2 previous lumps have both been papaloma breast tissue so I'm hoping this one is ive been told in the past that I have lumpy breasts and I just don't want to waste the hospitals time so I waited 6 weeks but the lump is still there I'm hoping because I've had a mammogram a year ago that it can't be anything sinister as that would have shown up but I suppose until I'm seen on Wednesday I won't know for sure and thank you for taking the time to reply xx

  • HI Emma,

Many women have lumpy breasts and papilloma. If this has been your diagnosis in the past, here's hoping that this continues to be the case. Please, never feel that you are wasting the hospital's time. Any new lump is potentially serious and should be examined as soon as possible.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you on Wednesday.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
