Investigation lymphoma - haematology - lumps in neck, underar

  • Hi CCC,

Whilst I can't comment on the actual questions in your post, I just wanted you to know that you're not alone. I got referred to the haematologist this morning, suspected lymphoma and this is absolutely my fear that I'm gonna be messed around. I only have the one lump and the not knowing is freaking me out.

Sending loads of (socially-distant) support and also awaiting responses to your questions!

  • Hi.purryface

Thankyou for messaging back. Im really sorry to hear your going through the same thing. I really hope your haematologist just sends you for a scan or even better a biopsy. This all started in January ive had these lumps for months now and they are big and the not knowing is the worst bit. I really thought I would have got somewhere last week. Im seeing my doctor again this week so I'll be showing her my other lump near my collarbone thay has only popped up 2 days ago..they only seem to be getting bigger not smaller.

Will you be seeing them in 2 weeks time?  I hope your appointment goes well. I will keep in touch and see how you get on and hopefully we can get some awnsers soon. Thinking of you too x

  • Thank you so much CCC

They gave me no timeframe whatsoever, just that they'd either call me or send a letter. The GP surgery phoned me twice yesterday, once about a prescription and the other about an asthma review! Every time the phone rang I thought oh god, they're gonna tell me I'm so ill.

I can't believe you've so many lumps and they're not helping you. I only have the one and I'm petrified! I hope they take you more seriously when they look at your collarbone, please let me know and keep in touch! X

  • I will let you know tomorrow how I get on at the GP. Was back today for sore more bloods to rule out ceoliac and liver parental cells whatever the hell that means.

You should ask your GP if its under the 2 week wait so that you know and hopefully that is the case so your seen sooner.

I will keep you updated with how I get on tomorrow at the GPs.

    Take care x

  • How did you get on, CCC? x

  • Hi purryface.

I'm sorry took so long, I just leave unhappy every single time I see the doctor. She told me I have to wait 3 months to see the haematologist again because basically at this moment in time my bloods are okay so it takes 120 days for your body to make new WBC and there basically waiting untill then to recheck to see if they come back abnormal even tho I have all the lumps and symptoms.

The thing that worries is me is bloods can always be fine, I know plenty of people who had cancer but bloods were always spot on. I asked if going for a private scan myself she said at this moment it wouldn't benefit me because its not single organ related and rambled something about radiation so don't even know what that means.

She said any changes she would report back to haematology if needed to be sooner but they just look at me like I'm an anxious person when in reality I think its normal to be anxious at a time like this. Right now I don't know what to do anymore x

Have you heard anything back yet? Letter or anything.?

    Hope your well x

  • Oh for goodness sake - sorry you're still totally in the dark. I've got a feeling it'll be the same for me. I've been waiting not even a week and it's torturous never mind three months every time! I've not had a letter or phone call as of yet - not even my bloods, so I'm also taking those to be okay! Thinking of you! X
