Breast clinic dilemma

Hi

I found a lump and dent on one breast. GP felt it too and referred me to the breast clinic on 2ww.

Unfortunately, my appointment has come through during half term, when I am supposed to be on holiday (almost 2hrs away) with my young children. My partner mihht be able to take time off work, but I don't want to tell him.

Long story, but his previous partner died from cancer and I've had a year of health woes, which have made him v anxious. I could afford a private consultation, but not any biopsies etc, so presume that would be useless?

Not sure why I'm posting tbh, but I rang clinic and they said I can't take kids due to covid and they don't want to move it, as referral says suspected cancer (even though it will be 3 weeks from referral, not within 2ww). Will another few days make much difference?

  • Hi EvaW,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can understand your dilemma. It does sound like a private consultation wouldn't really be worth it, as you've already had it checked and got the referral.

I would suggest it would be worth finding a way to attend your appointment if you can. There's no guarantee as to when the next one would be available, and your health is important.

I hope you're able to get this resolved soon.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
