Hi all, I'm 38, living in Ireland. I'm just looking for general idea of what to ask my GP about, I’ve made an appointment with her to have this checked out. Also wondering if anyone has had similar symptoms
Over a year ago I start getting pain in the area of my right ovary. I am on the contraceptive pill Ovreena, which resolved an issue with heavy periods and bleeding between periods a few years ago.
This pain is most obvious during the week where I take a break from Ovreena, at this stage I start getting this pain most often and i will have a sharp pain if I press in the area of my right ovary.
The rest of the month the pain can come and go. For example, if I experience a little constipation I will feel it, or if I’m sitting too long. Sometimes it radiates to my back, which made me think it was related to my rheumatoid arthritis or maybe a nerve issue.
I also thought perhaps my weight was an issue, but I’ve been working on weight loss and very much improved my health, diet and weight since the start of this year, but nothing has changed yet in terms of this pain.
The pain has increased in the last year, but it is not really bad. It’s just a low dull burning ache but sharp if I press on the area or move in a way that presses on the area such as lying on my side in bed. It is noticeable though.
I went to my old GP about it just before the pandemic started. As it was a new pain she said to give it six months, and if I was still experiencing pain then to come back and see her. But then the pandemic happened and I put it off. I’m now with a new GP and will talk to her later today, I just want an idea of what I should ask about so nothing gets missed.
In my thighs and left abdomen I have lots of small cysts, they feel like lumps of about 1-2 inches that move around under my touch. I was wondering if there is perhaps a similar cyst around my ovary causing problems and growing bigger.
I am also a bit concerned about ovarian cancer and trying to put this to the back of my mind, but obviously it's a bit of a worry with symptoms going on for so long.
