Pains in stomach and feel like I have a lump in my throat.

Hi so iv struggled with anxiety for the best part of 15 years, I'm on citalopram at the minute also which is really helping...I also struggle really bad with health anxiety and I'm having a big flare up at the minute

I started getting really bad heartburn and acid and pains in my stomach and regurgitation of food and drinks, the doctor prescribed me lansoprazole which helps a bit...but recently iv felt like iv had a lump in my throat, and it feels like my throats closing up I don't have any trouble getting food down which I suppose is a good sign..but I am absolutely terrified it's something serious and it's set off a load of other worries, I even went to get my eyes tested the other day because of my headaches and convincing myself I had a brain tumour (luckily I didn't)

Has anyone else been through this or going through this?

  • Hi Tarajadey09,

I'm sorry to hear of your worries. It's good that you've spoken to your doctor about this - if things don't improve or get worse, the only thing to really do is speak to the GP again as they are best placed to advise regarding any symptoms.

I know health anxiety can be difficult so do try to take some steps to manage this, which it sounds like you are already. The NHS Every Mind Matters page has some helpful resources if you'd like to take a look here.

    Wishing you all the best,
