Hello,
in order for you to fully understand what's going on I need to give you a bit of history. I am a 22 year old female in case that is relevant.
My family has a history of cancer. My cousin died in 1989 at 2 years old from a brain tumour, my grandfather has prostate cancer and my mother has a rare form of spindle cell/histocytoma.
4 weeks ago I noticed a lump on my neck, close to my shoulder. I waited a few days to see if it would go away and when it didn't I went to the clinic to have it looked at. The doctor said it was a cyst and that it was harmless. That didn't sit right with me so I got in contact with my regular doctor and she ordered an ultrasound done on the area.
During the ultrasound the technician told me there was no cyst, but I had a lot of swollen lymph nodes, especially on my left side, where I first noticed the "lump." This would've been a relief for me, but there isn't a known reason fir the lymph nodes in my neck to be swollen at all. I have no sore throat, no fever, and I feel otherwise normal.
After she received the ultrasound results, my doctor said she wanted me to get some bloodwork done. I just got that done yesterday and got the results back today.
According to the results my Neutrophils is low and it wasn’t on my last blood test which was Dec 23 2020, and my MCH is high. It’s been steadily getting higher since my blood test back in Feb 2020.
I have a phone call with my doctor tomorrow to discuss my results but I am freaking out. I don't know what those results mean and I'm really, really scared.
