Trying not to worry

Hi there. I was referred on rapid gynye access clinic 4 weeks ago due to an abnormal bleed and increasing pelvic pain. I'm 43 and had endometrial ablation 3 years ago so haven't had a period since. Anyways I was given a tv ultrasound which showed areas of fluid so I was referred for outpatient hysterectomy and biopsy. I had this one week ago and consultant could only access left side of womb. Right side was blocked with possible scarring he was not certain.  A biopsy was taken and I was told an appointment would be made within 4 weeks for results.  I recieved a call today from the specialist nurse to tell me they are arranging an mri scan for me within the next 2 weeks and that my biopsy result was not a good sample. I asked her how the dr how performed the hysteroscopy could not tell if what was blocking my womb was scarring and she told me not to worry. Has anybody else experienced this? Is this normal protocol or should I prepare for bad news? I'm a little concerned.  Many thanks.

I'm sorry to hear about the health concerns that you're dealing with at the moment. It's natural that you're feeling a little concerned about things.

It's not uncommon for further tests to be requested if biopsy results don't give clear answers but it's understandable that this can sometimes lead to more worries.

I wonder if you'd find it helpful to have a chat with one of our team of nurses? If you'd like to speak to them they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040. I'm sure they would be able to offer some advice and support whilst you're waiting for a diagnosis.

I hope that you have some news soon. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
