CT scan one week ago

Hi. I am very confused, perhaps someone could advise please?

I've lost about a stone over the past year. I put it down to Covid stress... I've lost my job due to Covid etc.

Anyway I called my GP about the weight loss and I got blood tests and a stool test I December. I called him about the results and all was clear... this was late December.

In January I wanted to discuss my weight loss. I spoke to a different GP as my usual GP was sick. She looked at my test results and said my CEA was 6 which is high, and that she was referring me to hospital. Please note that I smoke.

I had a CT scan one week ago, and am terrified. I don't know what is going on. If my initial results were cleared by my GP in December, what could be wrong?

Also how long do I wait for CT scan results? At the hospital they said 'about a week'.

Thanks

  • Hello Zenith,

In a way, it's good that you got to speak to a different GP and get a second opinion even though I can imagine you must be so worried at the moment. It sounds like they are being thorough which is a good thing and it won't be long now before you receive your CT scan results.

It mentions on our website on this page about the CT scan that it can take 1 to 2 weeks to receive your results so it shouldn't be long now before you find out more.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
