worried about ovarian cancer

sorry it is so long but would appreciate any input.

in october 2019 i had a uti and the bladder pressure never went away. they put me on medication for overactive bladder and it never went away. i asked for a scan and they kept trying to not do it. so then in the end i had to ask for one again and they sent me for one, i had my scan in feburary and they found a 6.5cm complex cyst. i was refered to oncology because my cyst looked like cancer. had the ca125 and a CEA tumor marker test. all came back fine. i then had another scan in march and all clear, again another in summer all clear. oncologist discharged me and said it was ibs. which is not true. ive had ibs for 5 years i know these pains and bladder pressure isnt this.

late last year I asked for another scan as I'm still having this bladder pressure and a bit of pain, doctor agreed and sent me for another ca125. then called back the next day and said no you only had scan in summer you don't need one as its very unlikely cyst has come back. luckily the referral went through and I could get one. had that in January, completely cyst 6.8cm. she said that she feels the one I had in summer was missed twice as it looks the exact same and same size. doctor told me not to worry because last time it looked like cancer and same this time but I've had a tumor marker test and ca125. referred to gynocology. they said app was end of may, at this point I was in pain daily and struggling to work. so after calling daily I got seen last week. my doctors hadn't even sent my report so they thought I was there for bladder. so that was annoying as he had no report to go off.

asked doctor to send him my report but not sure if it was done. today I had a scan and she is now saying it is a hemoragic cyst and is now 3cm. I'm confused now as not sure how it changed from complex to that and down 3cm in 2 months. all of them kept saying its a follicle cyst, but why would it cause me so many symptoms as those are the ones that we get when ovulating every month. so I've now booked a private scan for tomorrow as I just can't deal with this waiting. I've asked to speak to my consultant and they said he doesn't have any telephone appointments until end of June. when I saw him last week he said he would call with results. if its a cyst he will book surgery. if not refer me to gyno urology. but he wasn't in today, so nurse said she would speak with him to decide if he needs to call me back, he did say last week he would call with results though. I have a lot of ovarian cancer symptoms and I really don't know what to do. the bladder pressure is insane and I'm struggling to deal with it now. I'm so sick of them saying its this then its that then its this then its gone. is the scan from today correct is it a 3cm cyst, is it possible that because im near my period that it was just follcile cysts that showed? how can a cyst so small cause all these severe symtoms.

  • Hello Lily566

I'm sorry to hear about the ongoing health problems that you're dealing with. It sounds like it's been a difficult time not only physically but also with your hospital appointments and the mixed messages that you've been having.

Hopefully the Consultant will call you this week with the latest results but do express your concerns about the different information that you've been given when you speak to him. If you have the results from your private scan you can also bring that to his attention to try and help get some firm answers and a way forwards with a proper diagnosis and treatment plan.

If you feel that the appointment isn't productive then you may like to think about getting in touch with your local PALS department who are there to support patients and help resolve concerns and problems.

If you'd like to talk things through with one of our team of nurses you're welcome to call them on  0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I do hope you have an answer soon and that things improve for you.

    Best wishes,
