Follow up brought forward - anything to worry about?

I was due to have a follow up with ENT next Wednesday (31st March) following scans back on the 10th.

I had a call earlier today to say that the doctor would like to bring my appointment forward to this afternoon if I'm free.  It's a telephone consultation.

Trying not to read anything into this or worry about it - but it's hard not to, although obviously a relief not to have to wait until next Wednesday now.

Just wondering if this has happened to anybody else? Anybody else had their follow up brought forward, and did you end up with good news or bad news?

  • Hello Sparkleghost

There could be many reasons that the Consultant would like to speak to you this afternoon. Hopefully whatever the reason they will be able to give you some reassurance.

Let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi,

    what ended up happening?
hoping you are all good and healthy!

  • Aww thank you for asking after me Mellisa.

I wish I could tell you! The call never came. It was meant to be at around 4.10pm.

Not sure what to do now. I'm worried that my original appointment has been cancelled and that today's was never booked in properly.

I wish I could speak to my consultant's secretary, but she always calls on a private number, the only number on the letters I've had are for the hospital switchboard, and I've tried calling every single number listed for ENT - but nobody ever answers. I asked switchboard to put me through, but I just got an automated message asking me to type in the number of the mailbox I wanted. I did eventually get through to a nurse's station - they said that my consultant doesn't have a secretary listed, and that the clinics finished at 4.30pm.

edit: on the plus side, I guess whatever he wanted to speak to me about couldn't have been that important!

  • Hey,

So sorry to hear that your appointment fell through, that must've been so frustrating to have happen to you. I hope you found some answers for why this happened and you have a new appointment booked.

Fingers crossed for good results :)
