Cervical erosion, HPV and cervical cancer symptoms

I have recently been told my first smear test has come back as HPV positive and with low-grade dyskaryosis. Whilst there is lots online saying not to worry and I have read through other forum posts, I can't find much on women who have had this result and also cervical erosion. I have had bleeding after sex and between periods for about 7 or 8 years, but was always told to wait until my smear test and never given any examinations, so I'm really worried that perhaps this whole time I've had undiagnosed cervical cancer that now looks like cervical erosion instead. I understand that my colposcopy will clear up any doubt either way, but I am sick with worry.

I'm sorry to hear about the health concerns that you're dealing with at the moment.

Cervical erosion is a common condition and there is some useful information on the Jo's Trust website here which will hopefully offer you some reassurance ahead of your appointment. There's also lots of other information about HPV, cell changes, and treatment here on their website but if you're still concerned then I'd recommend giving their support line a call. I'm sure they will be able to offer some further information and reassurance.

    Best wishes,
