Small lump inside my nipple

Hello, I routinely check my nipples and breasts for lumps as I was taught by my mom. Now I have one Montgomery gland on either nipple that is always swollen and I eventually press to release the white stuff/sebum and oils to make it go down (and also I do it because I compulsively pick and squeeze my face and body).

For a while there has been a slightly swollen thing under my right nipple, now I dismissed it because im only 18, but I have become increasingly worried. It is most likely just a Montgomery gland that is blocked below the surface but my mind cant stop thinking the worst.

I have a history of being severely underweight and had issues with my period being too much for my body to handle, so I went on the pill. I was supposed to get scans to check there was nothing internal but then covid hit. I cannot remember when this lump formed but maybe it was because of the pill changing my hormone levels?

I have a doctor's call tonight so I will talk about it with them but I am so worried about having to go in to get checked up and feel so helpless.

  • Hello StellaRose,

You've taken the right steps in arranging to talk to your doctor tonight about it. Your GP will be in the best position to tell you more about this. Don't worry about having to go in and getting checked up. Doctors do this routinely and you will be reassured once you have spoken to the experts and had this properly examined.

I hope it all goes well tonight with the doctor's call. Keeping everything crossed for you.

    Best wishes,
