Inflammatory breast cancer?

Hi,

I was hoping to discuss my symptoms? I'm panicking while waiting for a 2 week wait breast clinic appointment.

A week ago, I noticed a large pink patch on my left breast. It's about 5x3 inches. I showed my husband and he couldn't see it at first but could once I pointed it out.  I saw my GP on Friday, who prescribed a 7day course of penicillin. 4 days into the course, no improvement so I went back and saw a different doctor. I was in tears and panicking. She said its subtle but she can see what I mean. She referred me.

I have no lump, no tenderness, no warmth, no itching. But this red patch is not shifting. I have a 7 month old baby and I'm terrified of leaving him without his mummy. I stopped breastfeeding at 3 ish months as we were really struggling with it.

I know I have to wait for my appointment but I can't eat or sleep and am crying constantly. In my head I've been decided I'm definitely dying. Can anyone give any perspective??

  • Hello Meganegan,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your breast clinic appointment. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting to find out more. You did the right thing though to go to your GP about it and then to see another doctor. It sounds like she was very thorough.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to focus on other things at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. There are also some useful tips on how to cope while waiting for news on this page

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi megan

    i hope you're well

sorry to hear of your symptoms, I'm currently experiencing the same

did tou ever get a resolution?

    thanks x

  • Hi,

Sorry to hear that you have symptoms. I hope you're doing OK.

I had an appointment at the cancer centre, and was examined by a nurse and consultant. They did an ultrasound and a punch biopsy. It turned out to be...nothing! The scan showed that the skin was thicker, but no cause was found. It very, very slowly has returned to normal. It took a really long time.

This is pure speculation, but in retrospect I have wondered if maybe it was a weird side effect of the covid vaccine (I'm defo not anti vax BTW!). I don't think I'll ever know.

I truly hope your issues are something similarly 'nothingy'. I'm here if you want to talk. I was overwhelmingly anxious when I was going through this, so please reach out if you need to.
