Anyone found a huge lump that moves your whole breast?!?

So after pregnancy, breastfeeding and losing a lot of weight, my poor breasts look sooooo deflated with stretch marks and a lot of excess skin so have no idea what I should be looking at or feeling for as they have changed so much.

Because of this, I must admit I have been a bit slac with regular breast exams. About 5-6 weeks ago I was adjusting my bra when I moved a lump that literally took my whole breast with it. It was the strangest sensation and something I've never experienced before. Although flat, my breasts are still quite dence and lumpy so waited for my period to come and go but the lump was still there. I wasn't overly concerned at the time but as the weeks passed I noticed my left breast stating to look  heavier and more rounded than my right to the extent I can actually see where the lump is and if I pull my skin taught at the top, the lump is more pronounced with a 1cm dip in my skin which let me to call my local surgery Friday gone and managed to get seen that afternoon. The nurse was lovely and said it felt mobile and soft which is a good sign but as it is new and I have two secondary family members who have had breast cancer, I would be referred on the 2 week pathway. She jotted it down as 3cm but I swear it feels like it's at least 5 !

I know I'm likely to be waiting far longer due to covid so in the meantime I wondered if anyone had experienced anything similar and wouldn't mind sharing?  I'm a glass half empty kind of girl so I've always been a pessimist so I'm actually completely prepared to receive bad news when I go in. Obviously I'm hoping for good news but if it is'nt, I just hope it hasn't spread too far due to it's size as my bones bloody ache.

  • Hello SimplyMe,

Try not to worry, as this only has a negative effect on your mental health. You can read more about urgent referrals here, which I hope will help you feel more prepared.

All the best for your next appointment,

  • Thank you for the info Anastasia.

For anyone else reading this,  I have fiinally received a call from the breast clinic a week after my referral and I've been booked in for a 4 hour appointment in the 10th April. 22 days will have passed which isn't too bad considering we are in a pandemic!

My partner suffers with severe mental health issues, self harms and is suicidal so I'm not planning on telling him anything until I have to. Not sure how long I'll be able to hide it though as I have since found other lumps and dents when I pull my breast skin taut so I wouldn't be surprised if I have biopsies taken. Especially with the main area of concern being so big! I'm just hoping it's not noticable??
