I found a painless lump on my tonsil, right hand side. I found it by sheer chance and I'm worried. With covid-D going on, I've been taking vitamin d drops on my tongue which prompted me to look deeper when I thought I saw somthing. My heart sank. My right tonsil is about 3 times the size of the other side. My immediate thought was an infection but I've not had a temperature, cold/flu symptoms, swelling on the glands, and most of all this is completely painless.
I called NHS24 who arranged an out of hours GP, she has a look and feel about but didn't full me with confidence when she tried to arrange a same day ENT scan and emphasising "there's no infection, but large swelling". Fast forward to this morning, saw my GP who had a look but filled me with no confidence what's so ever. When I asked "is thisnsowmthingninshould be worried at?" he outstretched arms and said I've no idea. I've to wait 3-4 weeks for an ENT. In the meantime, he'll arrange to have another look in a few weeks time.
I'm male, 35, Non-Smoker(never), rarely drink (the very odd bottle of beer), fairly healthy but slightly overweight.
Google is the worst thing in the world when it comes to self diagnosis, I'm in utter free fall panic right now. 2 seperate doctors, both agreed there was no infection but I'm genuinely surprised my gp wouldn't push for an ENT sooner
