Swollen gland on side of neck....

I'm just looking for a little advice/reassurance or similar experience....

I've had a swollen lymph node about half way down the left side of my neck for approx 10 days. I spoke to my Dr already who told to me call back after about 3 weeks if it hadn't gone or sooner if it gets bigger. Its not changed at all, I wouldn't say it's very big - about 1/1.5cm - but I can notice it in the mirror so it's stressing me out every time I see it. The Dr asked if I'd been ill recently which I don't think I have, I mentioned my throat felt swollen but that was literally for a day and seemed more linked to the whole swollen gland thing than a separate bug. I had my first covid vaccine 6 days before I noticed it so I did wonder if that could have anything to do with it? I don't have any other suspicious symptoms as far as I can tell... it just aches down that side of my neck sightly. Doesn't feel right. I've had a small cyst that burst that side of my head that's not healed and my throat has been a bit red and not sure if I might have had an infection from taking my asthma inhalers.

I'm so fed up of feeling stressed, it's been a tough time recently and my Dr wanted me to visit A&E because I felt breathless and exhausted but they couldn't find anything wrong on X-ray/ECG/blood tests and told me it could be anxiety. I know I do worry and stress a lot so I'm wondering if it could just be that. I don't want to make myself ill. Would anything sinister have shown up on the tests they did last month ish?

Sorry it's a long read and mostly me just needing someone to vent to about all the things going round in my head. I keep telling myself I'm most likely fine and sound ridiculous. I had two glands behind my ear swell up and that worried me so much but they went away after about 3 weeks...again I didn't feel ill or anything then and my Dr wasnt worried.

EURGHHH...thanks for reading xx

  • Hello Lisa2007,

Lumps can appear for all sorts of reasons and it's encouraging that they found nothing wrong after your tests. If you are feeling stressed it's important to keep any worries out of your mind and they can affect your wellbeing, you can do this through mindfulness. I hope posting has helped in some way and if your symptoms change the best thing to do is to keep your GP informed.

    Best wishes,
