Lymph node removal

Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering if anybody has any advice for me on lymph node removal?

For the past six months I have been in and out of doctors with various symptoms but the main one being enlarged lymph nodes in my neck (and a lump in my groin) that have been there for over four months.

I had an FNA & core biopsy done on my thyroid (I have a previous growth which has been benign for years) and clavicle lymph node about six weeks ago and since then I have been contacted by my ENT consultant who has suggested that he remove the lymph node as the biopsy came back abnormal but that the lab could not pinpoint exactly what it is! They have checked for the obvious things like lymphoma but fortunately these have not come back positive yet.

I am very anxious to find out what is exactly is going on but since I've had the biopsy my lymph node has gone back to normal size, so I was wondering if I should still proceed with the removal.

My most recent blood tests also showed elevated CRP and Ferritin- Ie inflammation.

Any help is much appreciated!

  • Hi Graciepops,

I can understand your concerns and I'm sure the not knowing what exactly is going on is difficult and confusing. My reply here will boost your post so more people will see it, and if anyone has any similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

I would also encourage you to discuss any questions or concerns with your doctor. Our nurses are also available if you'd like to talk things through at all - you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday-Friday, 9-5).

    Wishing you all the best,
