Lump in neck - scan abnormal

In Dec last year I found a lump in my neck / enlarged lymph node.

My GP thought I may have just had an infection not known it so he ran some blood tests. All was well, no infection, but my lymphocytes level were low (.85 when it's meant to be between 1 and 4). They redid them one month later and they had nearly doubled, up to 1.4, so I was happy. But yesterday I had an ultrasound on the lump and they said it was 'abnormal', and it'll be referred back to my GP for further investigation.

Has anyone else been through this? Would a biopsy be next?

I'm trying not to worry but I was really expecting them to say it was nothing. Feel rather freaked out tbh.

  • Hello georgie73,

I can completely understand why you are feeling worried after hearing that your ultrasound scan results were abnormal especially as you still don't know much more than that at the moment. Hopefully your GP will be able to clarify with you what it might all mean and whether a biopsy would be the next step.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much if you can or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
