Hello all,
I wasn't sure where to voice these thoughts as I don't want to worry family and friends so very glad to have found this forum.
About 6 months ago I found a lump on my leg, at first I didn't pay it much attention as it was in an odd place and assumed it was a bump/bite etc. Flash forward to a month or so ago and I run my hand over the area in the bath and notice the lump is more noticeable, I examine the area and apart from being painful to touch I have no obvious marks on the skin so again ignore it. A week later I realise I could now feel the lump through my jeans and it was noticeably bigger so decide to book a GP appointment.
Due to covid I expected a wait but my GP saw me the day I rang, after her examination she said I needed an ultrasound as she wasn't sure what it was but told me not to worry due to the location. A week later at my ultrasound the radiologist is stumped and unsure what it is so says I needed an MRI with contrast.
A week after that I'm in an MRI machine (far quicker than I thought). I was told to expect results of my MRI within10 days band today after only 4 I was rung up by my GP to tell me they still weren't sure what it is and it was being passed to a specialist team - a local Oncology team to look at and they'd be in touch.
I am guessing my GP would have had to tell me if they knew it was definitely cancer rather than just telling me the case is being passed over for further investigation?
The passing around from department/hospital etc is exhausting and worrying, it all happening within the space of a month of ringing the GP feels like it's ok some form of fast track.
I just turned 27 and to have found a lump on my thigh to this just feels so surreal.
I guess I'm wondering if anyone else has ever been passed to an Oncology team just for further investigation like my GP has said or if I'm just being naive and it's likely they've found something?
Any advice or thoughts while I wait for a clear result? My mind is racing.
Thank you!
