Colonoscopy after Bowel Cancer Test Kit

Hi All,

I have been told that I need further tests after I returned a bowel cancer screening test kit. The hospital will call me in 10 days to discuss and before they arrange a colonoscopy.

I called the National Helpline but they couldnt tell me how long the waiting lists were for the colonoscopy itself. I am happy to travel as required. I am also OK to go privately.

My questions are:

Does anyone know the waiting list times for this procedure please?

Approx costs of doing this privately?

I am now really worried about this. My husband has recently been diagnosed with T4 Prostate Cancer and now this? They do say that 9 out of 10 people will not have bowel cancer but also that only 2 out of 100 people are called for further tests!

Could someone help please?

Thank you. I dont have any symptons whatsoever either, no change in bowel habits, no blood etc although the tests clearly pick up hidden particles.

I'm guessing it depends on your location and the pandemic but I was refered and seen within about 6 weeks I think. This was in early 2020.
