Elevated CA125 only 29yrs old

I've been getting poorly for the last few months on and off and put it down to the time of year and having a little one in nursery. I demanded blood tests as adiment by this point (post chest infection/ tonsillitis back to back) that something isn't right.

They did routine bloods, and I got told by receptionist all satisfactory. The next day I get a call from nurse practitioner to say they've not done your liver / kidney function and instead accidentally done your CA125... but it's slightly raised @ 58.

Given other symptoms I've reported in the past I have an urgent ref to ultrasound and to gynocology. I would say currently I don't really have any symptoms.... no pains, bowl issues, urinary issues, no bloating or anything. Obviously quite scared as I know Overian cancer can be silent.

Is it just a waiting game now?
plus my biological mother died early of OC, which doesn't fill me with much reassurance.

Thanks

  • Hi Lauren91, try not to worry.  I was told at my ultrasound last week that an elevated CA125 is not always accurate. It's good that you are getting checked out and are booked in for an ultrasound and a gynae appointment, this way you have all the experts on hand to diagnose.  I know it's scary times but it's much better to get checked.

I hope it all goes ok.
