Lump under armpit

I've been ignoring a raised armpit since Christmas and finally took myself to the doctors today. I've ignored it as I'm a worrier and I figured it was in my head until the doctor measured a 9cm x 9cm lump (although I don't believe it's actually that big).

she said she'll have me scanned within two weeks which is pretty speedy considering the Covid climate.

basically I'm pooping my pants. It is just a raised armpit which I'm sure I can see a lump inside. I only noticed today that further down there is pain upon prodding. My breasts are supposedly lump free. Is there even such thing as breast cancer starting under the armpit ? I'm quite freaked out

Hi Jltaylor and welcome to the forum.
I know it can be scary to get any unexplained symptoms checked out but it's always good to do so when you can so well done for getting yourself booked in with your doctor.
As many of our members will tell you, a two week referral is actually quite common in this situation and I hope this information will help alleviate your concerns.
