Hysteroscopy and biopsy

Hi. I've suffered for last year with changing periods, started with heavier for couple days and acute stabbing pain, but nothing couldnt cope with. 9 months of that then my periods were lasting 14+days so went to GP, had swabs, and sent for pelvic scan which picked up fibroid and referral to gynae.. In between getting scan and referral that pain for 1 or 2 days is so excruciating that I cant move and feel sick, shivery and achy, just ill, I was actually sick with it in Feb and have been bleeding for 3 weeks. Also massive clots and flesh come out (gross, sorry!) Went to gynae yesterday and has transvaginal scan, in which he said to trainee dr "that doesnt look like fibroid" so had hysteroscopy with flush out, and biopsy as definitely something on camera. I've got to take tablets to stop bleeding and go back in 4 weeks again for clearer view. I'm just a bit concerned as at no point did he reasure me that it's this or that but biopsy just to confirm, he seemed a bit unsure or not wanting to say, and wouldnt a consultant know a fibroid or polyp if saw one. I dont normally worry but am a bit

  • Hello Beverlygene,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your biopsy results. I can imagine it must be a very stressful time for you while waiting for these important results.

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
