Raised CA125

Hi I'm new to the forum, I had breast cancer diagnosed in sept 2020 from my first mammogram.  I then had a lumpectomy in October followed by further surgery on my lymph nodes in november. When I saw my consultant in December he suggested a CT scan & blood test before starting radiotherapy treatment.
The CT scan showed a small ovarian cyst, so I was passed over to a gynaecologist as the two are not related, he then booked an ultrasound scan in January 2021 which was clear, I'm in total confusion now as they called me yesterday to say an MRI scan is being arranged. My CA125 levels were 85 in December & 80 in February is this high as I have no idea what they are looking for now ?

  • Hello Lizzy.flg,

Welcome to our forum! I am not sure myself whether these levels are high but I hope that you will hear from some of our members who have had similar CA125 levels and that they will share their experience with you. Perhaps your GP could also shed some light on what these levels mean.

I hope you won't have to wait too long for your MRI scan. It's good news though that your ultrasound in January was clear. I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this while you are waiting to have your MRI is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious.

I hope you will also hear from others here who have been through all this before and that they will be along soon to share their story with you.

Keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out fine.

    Best wishes,
