Painful Lump under armpit/side of chest.

Hello,

Never really done something like this before. About a year and a half a go I found a hard, painless, immoveable lump behind my right ear. Went to the doctors and they said it was a cyst and nothing to worry about. The lump still here to this day but its not changed in size and hasn't really been a problem. Fast forward to about a month ago I found another lump just above my left collarbone, this one was moveable and also painless. Before this (about 3/4 months) I also started experincing minor night sweats, I wouldn't wake up drenched but I'd wake up sweating and uncomfortable. I put it down to a hot room as I recently moved and now live in a loft.  Another doctor trip and the doctor said it feels like a reactive lympth node and if it gets any bigger or I start to feel ill to come back. Again, its not changed and if anything its got a bit smaller but its still there. Today I found yet another lump, this time under my right armpit kind of on the side of my chest, almost parallel to my nipple but down the side of my chest. This lump is probably the size of a bean (The same size as the others) but very tender to touch and doesn't move much. I've always sufferd with cysts (I've had some removed before) and its always been in my family. Should I book yet another doctors appointment and should I be worried as this is the first lump that actually hurts or am I overreacting. I'm a 25 year old man who's generally fit and active and feels good. No colds/illness, unexplained weight lose etc. I'm still having the minor night sweats but apart from that I feel pretty good.

Sorry it's long. Just wondering if I should be more concerned as this lump is tender to touch. All other lumps have been painless. Thanks.

  • Hello Rhyskie and welcome to the community.

As this new lump is causing you pain and playing on your mind it would probably be best to book back in with your doctor as they're the only ones who can let you know if a tender lump is cause for concern and put your mind at ease.

We have many members on the forum posting about lumps so hopefully those who have contended with something similar will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

    Kind regards,
