Calcifications and call to say I should bring someone

Hi, I had a biopsy taken last week and Dr told me when she was doing this that she was fairly sure it wasnt sinister but it was still 50% chance of cancer. The calcifications had increased significantly since my last mammogram 2 years ago and although I had some cysts over the last two years in that one breast in particular I wasnt really worried. My breast had been so itchy for months and I had actually gone to the clinic  back when it started and the Dr told me it was nothing but didnt do a very thorough examination to be honest.

I had a call from the nurse just now saying that I should come in next thrusday and that she cant give me the results over the phone. I then said that is fine, I un derstand but to be clear, you are not telling me that the results are all clear? She said, no, I am not and I would suggest you bring someone wih you.

She said they wouild be doing further scans of that breast and some biopsies on the other breast on Thusrday too and that they would discuss the findings and next steps then.

My guess is that this is probably not the best news I could be waiting for?

  • Hi, I've just read your letter and the anxiety you must be feeling must be dreadful.  I'm not an expert of this i'm afraid, but I just wanted to say, keep positive, and if they have to take drastic measures to prevent anything progressing down the road, so be it... A friend of mine discovered blood on her bra on xmas day that had oozed from her nipple, within 8  weeks she had had mammograms, biopsy,  and it was decided the best course of action was to have the breast removed, this happened  and no further treatment is required.  She even suggested that they take the other breast!  but they didn't obviously...  She is alive, she is grateful, she is well, sometimes she has her down days, or her flat days as she says, but she is so happy that she can stay on this earth for another while longer...  Be strong and safe and I wish you well xx

  • Thank you. It was a real shock to be honest but the drs in the clinic and the nurses were nothing short of fabulous.
