Breast Clinic Referal

Hello, I am 35 and a single mother of an 11 year old. I've been referred to the breast clinic after seeing a GP today. I was examined back in November after having a rash on my right nipple, and told everything was normal. However this week I discovered a lump in my right breast. The doctor was lovely and tried her best to reassure me and tell me not to worry, but that's particularly impossible when I already have an anxiety disorder. I'm not sure how I'm going to cope waiting over the next few weeks, and facing my daughter and trying to act normal infront of her. I'm not sure if I have a question to ask or anything, I think I just need someone to talk to.

  • Hello AimeeLou31

I'm sorry to hear that you're waiting on an appointment for breast clinic after discovering a lump. I know that this period of waiting for appointments and information can cause great anxiety and it's understandable that you're worried about things.

It can help to try and keep in mind that the majority of women who are seen in breast clinic are not diagnosed with breast cancer. It can also help to talk to someone and I'd encourage you to give our team of nurses a call. I'm sure they will be able to give you some support and reassurance whilst you're waiting. They're available Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
