Bowel biopsy

I had a colonoscopy last Thursday and they found something which the consultant described it as a tumour and a friable lesion.  They took six biopsies and should have the results this week.

After a traumatic weekend (nurse sent me home early!) I spoke to him yesterday and he told me it was "unusual" and "unusual in someone my age".

Ive got a CT scan this Thursday and a meeting with my consultant the next Thursday.  The consultant has also referred me to the cancer nurses at the hospital.

I'm just worried and scared and I'm frustrated with waiting, knowing that I'll have to wait until next Thursday.  How does everyone else cope with this!?

  • I'm not sure when you're having your CT scan today Angela but I just wanted to wish you well and let you know we're thinking of you.

Waiting for tests and results is always tough. In fact, many of our members here say it's the hardest part of this process so you're not alone and I'm sure you'll receive some support and advice on how to get through this testing time soon. In the meantime, I hope this article will help.

Wishing you all the best with your consultant appointment next Thursday as well. If you have any questions or would like to talk things through with someone in the run up then do give our nurses a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
