Hiatus hernia and poylp

Hello I was just wondering if anyone has had a hiatus hernia with a 3mm polyp before in their oesophagus.

I had an endoscopy and was advised that i had a hiatus hernia and a 3mm polyp at GOJ (not sure what that means).

They had removed the majority of the polyp and they did a biopsy and was told this was benign.

What worries me is they have scheduled another endoscopy in 3 months time and I'm unsure why. When i spoke to my GP they advised the polyp was quite unusual but it was benign so I shouldn't have anything to worry about. But what worries me is what was unusual about it and why am I having a follow up.

I am still experiencing continuous burping as well but not sure if that's connected to the hernia. Any advise or anyone who has had something similar happen to them?

  • Welcome to the forum Robbie although I'm sorry for the worry and uncertainty this follow up appointment is causing.

I know you've spoken with your GP already but as you've still got some questions playing on your mind don't be afraid of getting back in touch with them as they're the only ones who can give you the answers and peace of mind you're seeking at this time.

I'm sure some of our members who have been in a similar situation will get back to you soon but if you'd like to have a quick chat with one of our nurses about this you can contact them on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,
