This time last Sunday I was having my routine mammogram, no worries , no lumps. On Friday I'm complete shock I got the recall letter , full work up Wednesday .
firstly god bless the NHS , incredible that all this could happen so fast in a pandemic and I am so grateful .
of course I was in a state of shock & scared but some important things I've realised . One in 2 of us will get cancer , 1 in 7 women will get breast cancer .That is the reality , again thanks to huge efforts MOST PEOPLE SURVIVE, it's not a death sentance . Having the screening programme is an amazing thing , maybe I do have cancer , and the programme will have saved me , it's picking up early tiny cancers before they even grow to lump size .
to anyone going through same , I know your scared & in shock , but just don't lose sight of how lucky we are to have this early detection & that you will get the care & treatment you need and almost certainly you will be OK . Sending lots of love & postive energy to all .
