What happens after the mri?

I received the news last Wednesday that I have breast cancer and was advised an mri was required to assess the situation further and determine my surgery/treatment plan.

I have been contacted this afternoon and have an mri appointment tomorrow morning. I had not yet thought beyond the mri and am now wondering what will

come after it? Do I have to wait long for the results or will the consultant contact me right after?

I am planning on calling the breast care contact at the hospital after the scan (which is at a different hospital) but wondered if anyone has had this experience and can offer any advice to help calm my nerves right now?

  • @miss Thomas1988, hi . After you had MRI you need to wait for a while(10 days or so) and your surgeon will invite you to breast clinic to discuss your results. Usually they not explaining on the phone as they need to see you and after MRI you will have treatment plan in place . Its nothing changed in your life apart that fact that you have diagnosed with cancer and cancer at this days it's curable. Sometimes after Mri they need to do biopsy if you not had one and MRI will confirm your diagnosis. Good look for tomorrow with MRI , its simple procedure . Keep strong and be positive , we all here the same and always for you to chat. Sending my hugs to you . zana x
