Bladder cancer? or a Kidney Stone?

So, OH had blood in urine for a week (now gone). Dr ordered Blood tests which were ok but urine had white cells? Fast track referral for ultrasound which was done, as was a cystoscopy:cry:. No information given, but then offered a CT scan within a week (yesterday). Since the cystocscopy ( a week ago) hubby has been visiting the loo every hour day and night and suffering significant pain at the time, but passing little urine each time and then the pain subsides. GP has prescribed antibiotics in case it is infection from cystoscopy, but how on earth do we wait another week or more for a diagnosis. Both exhausted through lack of sleep. Could this be just a kidney stone? A&E doesn't seem like an option as between urges there is no pain. He already has heart problems so just feeling overwhelmed. Any advice anyone?  I have posted this on ask the nurses but someone else might have experience? Thanks

  • Hello awifey. Sorry to read of your Oh kidney problems. I was referred under 2ww to urology after having blood in my urine and tests showing no infection. Like your oh I had a cystoscopy and then a ct scan which has shown a 6mm kidney stone and a narrowing in uretha. I am now on watch and wait for 6 months when I will have another scan to review the situation. I was so relieved when they told me that there was nothing sinister and hopefully there will be other reasons than cancer for your ohs symptoms.  I had all my results within 2 weeks so hopefully you won't have much longer to wait.

Sending good wishes for a positive outcome.

    Lynne.

  • Thank you so much for your reply which was reassuring.  It is entirely possible it's a stone as he has had a tiny one before, but truthfully he has had so many serious illnesses that I tend toyul expect the worst.  I hope you get through the 6 months without incident and thanks again for your support.x
