Colposcopy results

Hi, I had a high grade severe changes on my smear and was invited for a coloscopy on the 17th of Feb where I had , in the words of the consultant 'quite a large area of bad cells removed' At one point she said she wasn't sure if I would need to come back and have the procedure under general as my tilted cervix was making it hard for her to see but she persevered. At the end of the procedure she told me that she wouldn't be surprised  if I would need to come back for further loop treatment once my biopsy came back. Anyway fast forward to today and I received a rather strang letter, explaining that they were sorry that they hadn't got back to me yet and that sometiems they needed to review the biopsy and my smear with the pathology team in order to give me the best advice possible. They also said not to worry and that it Dosnt necessarily mean anything sinister is going on but how can I not worry. There is obviously something going on if they are having to review it at their monthly panel. Has anyone els experienced this kind of letter while waiting for their results?

  • Hi CAlana,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to hear of the long wait you're having for your results - I'm sure this must be difficult. It's good that they are keeping in touch with you in the meantime although I can understand the recent update must be a little unsettling. I know it's easier said than done but try not to read anything into it too much at this point, as this will likely only increase worry.

If anyone here has any similar experience to share then hopefully they'll be along soon.

Otherwise, try to keep yourself busy if you can to help keep your mind off things while you wait.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
