Armpit lump

Hi,

I visited the GP as I'd found a lump in my armpit which is unusual for me. I'm 43 and my man was diagnosed with breast cancer in her late 40s. The GP referred me to the breast clinic and I have an appointment on 17th March. Sometimes the lump feels smaller or different as though the area around it is swollen. If the lump goes should I cancel my appointment? I don't want to waste an appointment but also don't want to cancel it if I should really still be examined.

My head is in a total spin and I've only told my husband as I don't want to worry anyone unneccessarily.

Thank you for your time.xx

  • Hi there,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I know how unsettling this must be and the uncertainty and waiting for appointments is never easy.

I'd suggest keeping your appointment in place regardless of what happens, as it can take a while to get these booked in so the fact that you have a date is good. If the lump goes, it would be good to check with your GP first before cancelling the appointment.

    Wishing you all the best,
