Hello Janepeanut
I would imagine that your Mum has been referred urgently for an appointment at the hospital. This is common when someone presents at their GP with a breast lump so don't worry.
Typically urgent appointments at breast clinic would be within 2 weeks however, due to current pressure on the NHS, some women are having to wait longer to be seen.
If you've not heard within 2 weeks then get her to give her GP a call or ring the hospital to see how long the waiting list is. If your Mum is able to attend at short notice then it may also be worth checking if they have a cancellation list.
It's understandable that you're feeling anxious but try to keep in mind that the majority of breast lumps are not cancerous.
Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.
Best wishes,
