I saw the GP yesterday about a hard area under my breast. He referred me to the breast clinic and said I should be seen within around 2 weeks. He said he didn't think the lump was cancer and not to be alarmed if I get a letter for my referral and it mentions cancer on it. He said that's just how these things are done. He said as it's something I've not noticed in the past its best to get it looked at properly.
I had a look on the breast unit website for my area and it said urgent referrals where cancer is suspected are seen within 2 weeks. I'm a bit confused, as the GP said he doesn't think it's cancer. Now I'm worried he was just telling me what I wanted to hear, although I thought GPs had to be honest with patients. Anyone got any ideas about this? Thanks
